People on skateboards, chillin’, crusin’, and if you’re Mandy Eshman you’re killin’ it. This girl rips on the ramps and is bold enough to try gnarly tricks. Even though she rips, Mandy has a beautiful outlook and her motto for life is; “Do as much good as possible, as often as possible to as many people as possible”. Although a quote, Mandy’s actions truly do encompass this philosophy.
Mandy knows board style and enjoys skateboarding, snowboarding and surfing. Mandy has been skating since she was young, but picked it up at eighteen. The reason? “I’m just an adrenaline junkie” she says. When she says “I like to go fast”, her face becomes only a huge smile with cheeks and she has a mischievous grin in her eyes. Mandy started skating when she was twelve. When she was twenty, she began teaching and has been making a career out of teaching her skill since 2003.
Mandy is sponsored by Madrid skate, flypaper grip tape, 888 helmets and CTI knee braces. Yes, Mandy is also sponsored by CTI knee braces, because she has busted her knee more than once. The last time she re-injured her knee the day before a competition. Because of her ranking, all Mandy had to do was get first place and she would be competing in the X Games. While doing a couple of runs in the pool the day before, she tweaked her knee. Unfortunately, Mandy did not get to participate in the competition the next day. Although she could only sit watching, Mandy still went, to cheer the ladies on, as she iced her knee. In regards to her injury, after three years of skating she blew her knee out for the first time. She jokingly questions “what, I’m not invincible?” which proves her heart as she still skates regardless of possible future injuries.
